Despite live music’s universally equalizing nature, everybody takes it in differently. A different angle, louder sound, longer solo, etc. No two shows are the same, and live music can hardly be captured. The purpose of Tourch is not to contain live music, but to expand it, contribute a chapter to its never-ending story, doing so all through the eyes and ears of the fans. Tourch is the home for the thoughts you share as you walk out of the venue with your eardrums radiating, allowing for everyone to participate in the conversation with you. Tourch is your invitation to tell the story of the band, the artist, the tour, and live music as whole.
The name “Tourch” is a play on the words “tour” and “torch.” The words are combined to represent fans carrying the torch of live music by sharing their thoughts on live performances and telling the story of a tour.
The purpose of Tourch is to:
- Be a place for music fans to give their thoughts on live performances, compare experiences, and learn more about the bands/artists they’re interested in.
- Encourage people to go see, listen, and be a part of live music – go to more concerts, hear music in its most authentic and/or genuine form, and find new music (that can change your life).
- Help build a live performance reputation for bands – whether it’s a band trying to build a following, or one that sells out stadiums, building a band’s reputation can make more people want to go see them for themselves.
- Share information that can make the live music experience more enjoyable – Accurate set times, helpful venue information that also helps build a reputation for venues (best areas for sound/vision of stage), cost of food/drinks, bathroom situations, room temperature (helps people prepare how to dress), etc.
- Tell the story of a tour – The more thoughts shared from fans at each show, the more detailed the tour’s story gets (What were the top shows? What did the lead singer say about this city? Why did they play this song Friday, but not on Sunday? etc.). And fans can read all about it.
